On November 12, 2020, the VIII annual meeting of The international expert Council for cooperation in the Arctic (IECCA) was held in an online format. The topic of the meeting: “Science, Education and Human Resources Development for Arctic Projects Implementation". Russian and foreign experts, representatives of business and government involved in the development of the Arctic made presentations at the plenary session. The main topics of the meeting were the specifics of training personnel for the Arctic and forms of international cooperation in this area.

In addition, the experts touched upon the specifics of the educational system of the indigenous peoples of the North, discussed the tools of the Arctic economic Council aimed at developing international cooperation, and studied practical examples of effective interaction in the field of education.

The main speakers of the event were:

The meeting included a presentation of the sixth edition of the international Yearbook Arctic review, as well as the publication of the Center for strategic assessments and forecasts "China's Arctic policy in the Arctic in the XXI century".

The experts agreed that the development of scientific and educational cooperation in the Arctic makes it possible to solve practical problems without political differences between the key Arctic countries.

The participants of the event also supported the thesis that the issues of personnel training are inextricably linked with the development of digital technologies. Thus, the formation of competencies among the "Arctic" personnel is an important transformation of the system for training highly qualified personnel for the implementation of large-scale projects in the Arctic.
