"Arctic forum: present and future" will bring together representatives of more than 20 foreign countries

VIII International Forum "Arctic: present and future", which opens on December 5 in St. Petersburg, will be devoted to new vectors of development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.


Today, the Arctic unites the interests of the inhabitants of the whole planet. An important tool for developing international cooperation and preserving peace in the Arctic is Russia's participation in the work of international partnership institutions and the development of international non-governmental cooperation, as well as in cooperation in the implementation of major scientific, infrastructure and environmental projects in the Arctic. Within the framework of the two-day business program, a number of discussion events with an actual international agenda are planned.

At the session "the Development and deepening of international Arctic scientific cooperation" (December 5), with the reports of the special adviser to the Consulate of Denmark Jakob Lindquist Bay, and the Consul General of Finland Anna Lamella.

President of the chamber of Commerce of Lapland Timo Rautajoki at the working session "economic incentives for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the Arctic" (December 5) will talk about the experience of supporting entrepreneurship in the Arctic region of Finland.

During the panel session, "In search of stability: international cooperation in the Arctic" (December 6) will be the Swedish Ambassador for the Arctic, a senior official of the Arctic Council from Sweden björn Lyrvall, extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Iceland in Russia, the Berglind Asgeirsdottir, the Ambassador of Norway on the Arctic and Antarctic Bard Ivar Svendsen and Director of the Department of Northern and polar relations foreign Affairs Canada Gonna Wark.

The first Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of India in Russia Saswati day will take part in the panel session "Interregional cooperation and potential of the non-Arctic regions" (December 6). Traditionally part of Russia the discussion will support the special envoy the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia Vladimir Barbin.
