Parliamentary Secretary to Foreign Affairs Canada Goldsmith-Jones said about the government's desire to restore relations with Russia on the Arctic, according to CTV television.

In November, a two-way conference will be held at Carleton University in Ottawa.

Goldsmith-Jones points out that the Canadian administration still does not agree with Moscow's foreign policy. In 2014, relations between the two Arctic countries were almost completely frozen because of the reunification of the Crimea with Russia and the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier, on 14 September, the head of the International Association of The University of the Arctic Lars Kullerud said that Moscow has made to improve the environmental situation in the Arctic due to cleaning of territories and the establishment of protected areas.

At the same time Russian, he said, show "strict adherence to international law, in particular rules relating to the law of the sea."
